Every year, my birthday comes around and every year, I have no idea what I want. This year, my sister in law asked me for a Christmas wish list and not a single thing came to mind so I took a few days to think about it and research and I put so much thought into it, I thought I’d share it for other people that struggle with wish lists.
I think of the perfect gifts as things I’d like, but can live without. So it improves the quality of my life and brings me joy but my life would also be largely unchanged without these things.
All prices are in CAD.
Amazon giftcard ($5-$2000)
I live in Canada, where amazon is a shopping essential for me, so a giftcard from there will never go to waste.
Sephora Canada giftcard ($1-$infinity)
I’m always watching from the sidelines when Americans argue about Ulta vs Sephora and Europe and the UK speak about all their cool pharmacies that carry all the beauty products. In Canada, it’s really Sephora or less appealing options. I pick Sephora.
Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition ($309)
I don’t read physical books if I can help it and my current kindle is from 2013 so I’m way past due for an upgrade.
TBCO Cotton Pyjamas ($179)
Maybe this is another sign of old age, but I love pyjamas and there’s something so extremely indulgent about nice pyjamas in natural fabrics because why are you going to sleep in polyester?
Brick ($67)
The Brick is a physical device that temporarily removes distracting apps & their notifications from your phone. As someone that’s chronically online, this may help me, although I’ve secretly given up hope.
Loop Experience 2 Earplugs ($40)
The older I get, the more I start to care about things like losing my hearing. These earplugs are specifically made for situations like loud concerts, so you can still enjoy the sound, and maintain your hearing.
Hermes Soap Gift set ($87)
This soap set is customisable and pretty, which sometimes are the two things you need a gift to be.
Ninja CREAMi Swirl ($299)
This machine turns any liquid into ice-cream, which is already cool- but turning anything into soft serve? amazing!
Maguire Leather Gloves with cashmere lining ($100)
Soft Italian leather gloves with a cashmere lining? Hands can be warm and pretty!
ESTHER PEREL Where Should We Begin? A Game of Stories - Conversation Cards for Couples & Friends ($39)
Why come up with conversation topics when someone else has done that legwork for you?
Loewe Tomato Leaves Candle ($169)
Apparently, tomato candles are trendy now. I’m not sure why, but I do love a gimmick from Loewe. I’ll let you know if I ever find out what makes a tomato candle even a thing.
Prada Re-Nylon gabardine après-ski boots ($1,920)
I love Prada accessories and I love a chunky winter boot- best of both worlds.
La Canadienne Watkins Cashmere Hat ($225)
If you had told me I would care about the quality of my winter accessories before I moved to Canada, I wouldn’t have believed you, but when it’s cold for 8 months of the year, it really makes sense to care.
MAISON de SABRÉ The Sling Phone Case ($113)
I’ve been looking for ways to leave the house with just my phone and nothing else and this is such a pretty way to do so.
